The coulomb meter is a probe-type device that measures the size of the static charges that may cause electrostatic damage in the manufacturing, inspection, and assembly processes for electronic devices.

Many of the ESD phenomena that cause failures of electronic devices can be explained by the charged device model (CDM). In this model, the device itself is charged and, when an external electrode is grounded, a high peak current flows instantly. The quantity of static discharge, the integral of the current, can be measured with high accuracy by the coulomb meter.

- You can easily measure the quantity of static discharge just by bringing the coulomb meter into contact with the object to be measured (conductor).
- The quantity of static discharge due to induction charging can be measured for electronic devices and printed wiring boards surrounded by charged insulators.
- This measurement method checks on the actual electrostatic destruction phenomenon (CDM).
- The use of this contact method ensures very few measurement errors between different measurers.
- You can switch between two modes: peak hold and continuous measurement.
- A conductive probe tip, optionally available, allows you to safely measure sensitive products.
- An AC adapter, optionally available, comes in handy when you use this coulomb meter for evaluation, tests, etc. for extended periods.
- Using the optional ZHO-200PN, you can convert a device capacitance.
- Using the optional KQ-1400, this model can be used to measure a static charge. (Faraday cage method)

An electronic device or metallic tool has a capacitance to ground and is charged by the human body potential if it is touched by a person. If such a charged electronic device comes into contact with the ground or a charged metallic tool on an electronic device, a transient current with a brief but large peak current is passed and can cause it to fail. Using the Human Body Electrometer, you can accurately measure the potential of the human body and determine whether this potential is high enough to damage an electronic device. Additionally, you can determine how much the human body potential can be lowered by such antistatic measures as a conductive floor, conductive mat, conductive shoes, and wrist strap.

- This model can easily measure the potential of a human body when the person grips the probe in his hand.
- A high resolution of +/-0.1 V is realized (NK-3001).
- A wide-range measurement is provided.
- You can switch between peak hold and continuous measurement modes.
- If used in combination with a recorder, this model can continuously record changes in the human body potential caused by a worker when he makes various motions.

The basic countermeasure for ESD failures is to ground metallic objects such as work benches and production facilities. If grounding is insufficient, a metallic object will acquire a charge due to a potential difference between it and the floor, an electric leak, or contact with a charged object. An electronic device placed on such a metallic object acquires the same potential and, when tweezers or a soldering iron comes in contact with it, an ESD failure due to the Machine Model (MM) or Charged Device Model (CDM) occurs. The Work Bench Monitor is a measuring device with an exceedingly high impedance and is used to monitor the potential of a metallic body with an accuracy of +/-0.1 V.

- With a potential detection sensitivity as high as +/-0.1 V, this model is best suited for monitoring of potentials on a workbench or the surface of production facilities in the HDD GRM head or ultrafine VLSI assembly process.
- Being a probe type, this model can measure potentials in a confined area such as a production line.
- You can switch between peak hold and continuous measurement modes.
- AC power drive terminals, convenient for evaluation, tests, etc., are standard with this model (The adapter is optional).

The electrostatic tolerance of electronic devices is getting lower and lower, requiring more and more ionizers to be installed. Over time, ionizers come to have a lower static elimination performance and a poorer ion balance due to contamination or wear of the electrode needles. Electronic devices also become charged by the ions blowing from an ionizer unbalanced due to contamination or wear, sometimes even to a level that can destroy a cutting-edge electronic device.

The Air Ion Monitor, by accurately measuring the potential of a charged plate (detecting element) having approximately the same capacitance as a device's capacitance to ground, is the measuring device best suited for checking the effect of an installed ionizer or conducting everyday management.

- With a built-in power source, this model allows you to evaluate and manage ionizers at the push of a button.
